Choosing the Right Tools

Choosing the Right Tools

How do I choose the right smoothing blade?

The best smoothing blade depends on the compound, surface and application:

  • Flexible blades are ideal for smoothing ready-mixed filler and creating fine surface finishes.

  • Stiffer blades are better suited to heavier compounds, cement-based materials and applications requiring greater pressure.

  • Wider blades increase productivity on large walls and ceilings.

  • Narrower blades provide greater control around joints, corners and detailed areas.

If you are unsure, contact us and tell us what material and surface you are working with.

What is the difference between ParfaitLiss, DecoLiss and ScandiSpachtel?

ParfaitLiss blades are designed for efficient smoothing of large wall and ceiling areas and can be used with compatible extension poles.

DecoLiss tools have an ergonomic rounded handle and are available with different blade stiffnesses. They are particularly useful for drywall finishing, jointing and detailed smoothing.

ScandiSpachtel tools combine flexible stainless-steel blades with ergonomic handles and are designed for Nordic-style ready-mixed fillers and professional surface finishing. These are high quality, high performance blades at great price points.

Should I choose a soft or stiff blade?

Choose a soft, flexible blade for ready-mixed filler, roller-applied filler, spray-applied filler and fine finishing work. Choose a stiffer blade for heavier compounds, powder fillers, cement-based products or applications where more pressure is required.
